Where
World Wide
Description
In October 2006, the Transportation Security Administration was looking for a firm to partner with Sprint to provide the structured cabling, Data Facilities rooms and other technology infrastructure elements to a collection of airports across the USA and in several overseas locations. They chose Cable Tech Inc. for this massive effort.

The Statement of Work (SOW) called for a multi-step process beginning with a site survey to determine the design and scope of the effort needed at each individual airport.

Following the site survey, the TSA and Sprint required a fixed cost proposal to be rendered and approved by their management teams for each site.

Upon approval, Cable Tech was then to schedule the work to meet the aggressive project plan for installation of Server and End User application software for each site.

The entire project could only run for 8 months under that plan—no matter what the scope and complexity of the projects at each airport location.

Cable Tech was responsible for all scheduling, coordination, permits, local ordinance compliance and successful installation.

As a final requirement, TSA and Sprint had to have a final documentation package that included detailed “as built” drawings, patch panel installations, IDF/MDF drawings and final testing reports on all cabling to certify operations.

Cable Tech’s superior staff rose to the challenge, working with multiple survey and installation flying teams and the Cable Tech’s National Dispatch Center to complete all of the sites in 7 months and exceed the customer’s expectations so well that Cable Tech has been engaged for a phase 2 effort in 2007 and 2008 at more than 500 airports for additional technology infrastructure installations.
The bottom line:
Another Globally Scoped project where Cable Tech’s ISO processes, technical expertise and superior Quality of Service metrics combined to complete this Sprint/Nextel led project on-time, in-budget and with high quality of work survey results from the Project Team.
