| Description |
This large community school district in Southwestern Oregon needed a technology vendor who could implement a VOIP solution for seven sites and over nine thousand users without disrupting access for the school year and in a combination of established schools and new construction buildings.
Cable Tech’s completion in June 2004 allowed Eagle Point Schools to bring cutting edge technology into the classroom—Including Voice, Data and Hi-Bandwidth video and Audio Instructional applications.
As an additional benefit, the telephone vendor costs of providing these applications were significantly reduced along with the on-going expense needed to maintain operations at a high level of effectiveness and connectivity. Here’s how it came about:
The District Administrators turned to Sprint Business Services to manage the overall installation, who in turn commissioned Cable Tech to turn-key the technical aspects of the installation of the new equipment and software.
Cable Tech provided everything from the construction of the IP cabinets and additional Nortel Option 11c PBX hardware/software needs to installation and configuration of the Cisco Routers and design of the VPN (Virtual Private Network) set-ups for the IP Routing, Traffic Handling and Voice QOS (Quality of Service) metrics.
The installation was complicated by the fact that three of the sites were new construction and/or still under construction. Four other sites, including the District Offices, had to be installed in such a way as to not disrupt normal school operations and also required significant pre-work by the Cable Tech installation team.
Cable Tech’s team managed all the aspects of the physical installation of the seven sites—matching each sites particular requirement to a specific individual SOW (Statement of Work) and working each unique issue to a successful completion. Working closely with the School District Staff, Sprint Engineering and the local State Service District (The State of Oregon’s long term technology maintenance group) Cable Tech used it’s solid base of technical and project management staff to ensure that all the necessary components were in place, programmed appropriately, tested for serviceability and then turned up and tested using World Class Methodologies. |
| The bottom line: |
| Another complex project where Cable Tech’s ISO processes, technical expertise and superior Quality of Service metrics combined to complete the project on-time, in-budget and with high quality of work survey results from the customer and the end-users. |
